Tackling the TBR #1 ~ October 2019

Hello lovelies!!

So I have been contemplating for a while a type of post where I can track what I need to read and what I want to read... I came across a blogger friend of mines post.. Tackling the TBR hosted on her blog and decided to join in!

I love her blog as often we enjoy the same type of books and she is fun to follow. If you don't know her, check out her blog here

Tackling the TBR is all about making some progress on that never ending and growing wonderful pile of books on our bookshelves!

What is more fun than picking out which books to read next. This slightly organised method of reading will definitely and hopefully amp up my reading enjoyment to the next level.

Bring on the mantras!

Read the best books first.
Life is too short to read books you’re not enjoying.

However you put together your TBR for the next month, the goal is to reduce the amount of obligation in reading and increase the fun.

Here’s a look at how the system works:

1. Identify the titles that take top priority in your TBR.
2. Combine them all in your own Tackling the TBR post.
3. Throughout the month pick from that pile as the mood strikes you.

I don't really have an update on reading progress as this is my first post for this meme. My reading time isn't as ample as it used to be as I need to split it between reading, writing, gyming, series with hubby and general family time which includes homework with our 6 year old. Never mind the fact that being preggos I fall asleep faster than usual. Baking that bun in the oven kinda takes it out of you on some days, and you can't even rely on any caffeine to get you through!!

It was hard to choose books for this post as there are literally so many books I wish I had time to read. It is definitely easier to read off the kindle than reading a normal book these days, as I can still read a kindle when hubby wants to sleep and I feel guilty having the bedside lamp on!

My reading progress is way slower than it used to be... but at least I have finished my goodreads challenge for the year *whoop whoop*.

I was considering taking part in NaNoWriMo this year, but figured that I already have so much on my plate that adding another challenge seemed a bit stupid. I am almost finished writing the first draft of my book I want to publish in the new year so sacrifices need to be made.

The only way I sneak in extra books is firstly I read 2 pages of a motivational book before I leave for work in the morning (currently: The Secret) and then I listen to an audio book on my commute (Currently none as I just got my car back from a repair and need to download it from Audible), and then I try read for 15 minutes minimum before I go to sleep at night.

What are you juggling on your plate? Where do you find time to read??

Next TBR post 04 November 2019

Happy reading folks <3

  1. Man, my TBR is out of control right now and I have some review copies I need to tackle first so haha help. lol

    1. Oh I know that feeling! That is why I stopped taking reviews, but I just made the review team for JD Brown which I am super excited about. I have also been wary of requesting on NetGalley... I already feel like I have way to many review books that I should have.
      Thanks for the visit <3

  2. This is a very smart way to keep track of your TBR! I'm not focusing on books too much at the moment, and honestly I don't even have a TBR pile. I just pick whatever I fancy reading in that particular moment. What I can tell you, though, is that Christmas reads are already being promoted, so I may get one of those pretty soon!

    1. I love picking up what I feel like at the moment too. I don't normally like review commitments anymore but the netgalley and arcs I got are books I really want to read <3 so bonus with some pressure I guess :) I read a lot slower than I used to in the past as well ha ha.
Thanks for the visit Franny :)

  3. What TBR pile is not out of control thanks to all the marvellous titles constantly put under our noses? And yet, we love it and we couldn't live without it <3 I agree with Fran, this one seems a good way to keep track of our endless lists, and it's honestly good to read what we feel like it's good at the moment for us (I'm a mood reader as well). If we get under too much pressure we end up not properly enjoying our reading time, and that just becomes sad . . . So yes, everyone should do what works best for them and enjoy the reads at their own pace <3

    1. That is so true Silvia!! This way I can read what I want and also not lose track of the good books I discover along the way or forget what is on my bookshelf too...
We have enough pressure in our lives to still add that silly thing to our love of reading <3

  4. I love how you adapted it to include currently reading. I usually have about 10 days of crossover between months, but those books never get mentioned. I might tweak for next month... :) (it's niki)

    1. Thanks my friend! I didn't think you would mind me tweaking it a little bit :) I was looking at my bookshelf last night and thinking there are so many more books I wish I could mention. Thanks for the blog visit!!

  5. I hope you enjoy Unearthed! I liked it a lot. :)
The cover for Heaven's Silhouette is bad ass! I need to check that one out.

    1. Thanks Nicci, I am sure I will enjoy it! It's there in my top 3 next to read books.
That cover is awesome right.. prob what drew me in in the first place. I love the mystical and magical reads, as well as Angel story lines <3
